We believe in traits, not labels.

At Motley Bloom, we’re designing lives that fit us and our environments. This isn’t about squeezing into someone else’s system.  It’s about celebrating the parts of us that are different. Let’s be unalike, together.

Our Philosophy

We Bloom in Different Ways

Neurodivergence is different for everyone. While we may share diagnoses, our experiences and expressions are totally unique. So instead of leaning into labels, we’re leaning into traits, discovering what makes us who we are, and how we can move through the world as our authentic selves.

Our Traits

  • MB_SocialHeaders_squareMB

    Sensorium

Out of all the traits, these seem to be the ones that most alter our day-to-day existence: sound, tactile, visual, smell, and taste.
  • MB_SocialHeaders_squareMB

    Regulation

We can’t always control every environment we move through. Regulation is what grounds us when we’re overstimulated.
  • MB_SocialHeaders_squareMB

    Stimming

Understanding what stimulates us is the key to regulating our environments and helping us do the mundane, everyday tasks we find so boring.
  • MB_SocialHeaders_squareMB

    Communication

Knowing how you communicate and socially interact with others will help you find people who get you.
  • MB_SocialHeaders_squareMB

    Your Body

How our body interacts with our environments. From the physicality of movement to the sensation of pressure and warmth.

    Organization

By redefining and establishing new norms of organization, we can build systems and processes that work for type of brain.

Our Story

I built Motley Bloom after years of pushing myself to succeed in environments that were never designed for my brain.

Like so many neurodivergent people, I became a master of masking. Performing, contorting and overcompensating just to keep up. On the outside, I looked high-achieving. On the inside, I was quietly burning out.

When everything finally collapsed, I had no choice but to rebuild from the truth outward.

As I started shaping my life around how I actually function, everything shifted. My energy came back. My creativity sharpened. And for the first time, I felt like I was living as myself, not a version built for other people’s comfort.

Motley Bloom was born from that transformation. From the realization that millions of us, neurodivergent by nature, aren’t struggling because of how we’re wired, but because the world isn’t wired for us.

It’s the first ecosystem built to help us live in alignment, not resistance.

Because when we bloom, the world blooms with us.

Our Vision:
Neurodivergent First

  • They say everyone should act the same.
They say there’s only one right way to be.
They say fit in, even if that means you have to mask.
We’re Motley Bloom, and we’re here to say something different.
When they say “chaotic,” we say creative.
When they say “awkward,” we say funny.
When they say “sensitive,” we say perceptive.
We say, the traits that make us different
     are actually our strengths.
Because if everyone was the same,
    we wouldn’t have new.
    If everything was ordinary,
    we couldn’t be extraordinary.
If everything was black and white,
     nothing would be vibrant.
So let’s own what makes us different, and feel free to stand out.
Let’s create a world that’s diverse, colorful, and motley,
    so we can all bloom.
    Let’s be unalike,
    together.

Founder

Tishan Cowan is the CEO and founder of Motley Bloom, a lifestyle platform and collective celebrating Neurodivergent First living in all its forms. After working in creative Neurodivergent-led organizations for over 20 years—first as a senior executive at Warner Bros., and then in the nonprofit advocacy space at Understood.org, Tish saw an opportunity not being met and launched Motley Bloom in 2024 with the goal of elevating neurodivergent identity and uncovering the creative ways divergent thinking adds to the world.

As is common with women, Tish received her Autism and ADHD diagnoses later in life, after her kids were diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia. Living in a neuroblended household has made her passionate about helping to shape an inclusive future in which every voice is heard, every identity celebrated, and every person empowered to live as their truest selves.
