We’re Outsourcing Dinner. Here’s How.

We’re Outsourcing Dinner. Here’s How.

One way that we’re designing our lives for our neurodivergent minds is designing our meal planning, prepping, and cooking to work for us, not against us. And sometimes, that means outsourcing some of the mental load elsewhere. Here are our favorite ways to outsource dinner so we don’t have to worry about it:

Grocery Delivery

Maybe you don’t mind cooking, but grocery shopping is an actual nightmare. The bright lights, the busy visual environment, making a list and remembering to bring it (and actually use it) — it can all be a lot! Plus, sometimes we walk away with way more than we actually need, or can eat. That’s why we love grocery delivery services. You can select all of the groceries you need online (and in some cases, in an app) and it’s delivered right to your door. You can make a list and stick to it, all from the comfort of your own home.

Make-Your-Own Meal Delivery Kits

Take the planning out of it completely and get the exact amount of ingredients you need for recipes you select sent right to your door with make-your-own meal delivery kits. You still get to enjoy the sensory experience of cooking, without all of the mental preparation (and without the excessive leftovers and ingredients).

Pre-Made Meal Delivery

If you don’t want to cook at all, these pre-made meal delivery services send you high-quality meals that you can easily heat up in the microwave, no prep required. You just pick your meals and they’re sent right to your door. And if you get a hankering for something other than what you order by the time it’s delivered, you can usually freeze and reheat for another day.

Restaurant Delivery

And of course, we also love getting takeout when we don’t want to (or can’t!) cook. We like to build delivery/takeout into our grocery budget so we can anticipate and enjoy it. Plus, we love an opportunity to support local restaurants and devour their delicious food!
